Song: Waiting for the 7.18

Artist: Bloc Party

Album: A Weekend In The City

Best to Listen: Chilling by yourself; reflecting on life

- My favorite song on the album. It’s all about reflection on how life was and how the singer wants to cling on the good times he’s had (“Give me moments, not hours or days”). The song then talks about how he wishes to undo what has already been done, hopefully for the better (“If I could do it again…”). The final part suggests he wants to make some new and better memories (“Let’s drive to Brighton on the weekend…”).

- The xylophone at the beginning gives a tired, dreamy like feel, which connects to remembering the past. The drums kick in, almost bringing the sound out of its dream state into a more “here and now” vibe. The violins were also a very nice touch. The guitar was very tight and the echo effect was used perfectly.

Overall: B+
